Louisiana Reciprocity for Texas Contractors: News From the Board of Contractors
The Louisiana State Board for Contractors recently passed new licensing rules which provide for reciprocity with Texas' Deparment of Licensing. Unfortunately, the reciprocity agreement is limited to electrical contractors only. But the change leaves open the possibility for other classifications in the future.
The new rules require the following:
A) Licensed as a Master Electrician in Texas for 3 or more years
B) No disciplinary action on your record
C) License verification for must be completed by the TDLR and the TDLR must certify that you, as the qualifying party for your firm, took the ICC examination and that you passed the exam
D) Texas must affix the TDLR seal to the form (The Board will not accept copies which have been faxed and forwarded to this Board).
E) This Board will not accept copies of license or copies of grade notice from ICC as evidence. (TDLR must certify that you took the exam as without certification, we cannot reciprocate).
No More "Solar Energy" Classification - ** UPDATE - 12/07/09**
Previously, the Board announced that it had terminated the "solar energy equipment" classification, instead electing to lump it with electrical and mechanical contractors' licenses.
We were informed that this was not accurate and it appears to have been removed from the Board's website.
We apologize for any problems that might have resulted from this news. The classification remains.
