2011 Fantasy Football League Now Open For Registration

Last year, we had a lot of fun with the Wolfe Law Group / Zlien fantasy football league. Actually, it was so successful we had to open two leagues. Folks have been asking whether we’d have a league set for up 2011, and we’re happy to announce that we are, and the league is now open for registration.

Finally…Our Email Newsletters Are Coming Back

It’s been quite a while since we sent out an email newsletter, and we’re happy to announce that starting today, we’re bringing these email updates back.

When Wolfe Law Group first opened, these email updates were a staple.  Our newsletter email would get sent about once a month, and would provide clients, colleagues and friends updates on construction law issues that affected their business or practice. We always got great compliments on the email campaign, but over the years we stopped sending them as we focused more and more on our blogs.

The blogging will continue, but we recognize that some folks rather get updated via email.

Is Your Lawyer About To Raise His Rates?

The ABA Journal published an article last week about an Altman Weil Survey finding that 95% of law firms plan to increase fees by an average of 4%.  Yikes!

Specifically, the article, quoting a report from Reuters, states:

Almost all of the law firms responding to a survey by consultant Altman Weil Inc. are planning to raise their fees this year, if they haven’t already…The median increase in fees, compared to 2010, is 4 percent.

Wolfe Law Group is proud that it has never – I repeat, never – raised its rate on a client.  In fact, we made a point of this at the turn of the year this past January, when we posted on our blog that 2011 Marks Sixth Year Wolfe Law Group Refuses To Raise Rates.

We’ve said it a thousand times: Wolfe Law Group is different. When we make an agreement with our clients, we stick to it.

Upcoming Speaking Engagements on Building Codes & Going Solo

Speaking at Loyola Law Schools Skills Curriculum

In the next seven days, I’ll be speaking at two engagements. The first is available only to students at Loyola New Orleans College of Law, but the second is available to anyone in the New Orleans area through Lorman Seminars. Here are the details.

Loyola Law Schools Skills Curriculum
I’ll be visiting Loyola to teach a course through the school’s Skills Curriculum. The course – Solo from Scratch – teaches students how to open and run a solo practice right out of law school. I first taught the course in 2009, and I’m happy to be invited back to teach this semester. The course will be on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 9:00 AM, at the Loyola New Orleans College of Law campus.

Building Codes – Lorman Seminars
This is a seminar organized by Lorman Education Services.  It will take place on January 26, 2011, at the Crown Plaza Hotel New Orleans Airport oat 2829 Williams Blvd, in Kenner, LA.
